MSSW-UW-25012019-UMC

Marex Subsea Welds Ltd was sub-contracted to operate for and on behalf of UMC International.

The scope of work for MSSW was to provide coded wet welding services of class A welds in accordance with AWS D3.6M code, an American standard for underwater coded welding, under the surveillance and approbation of the Bureau Veritas of Shipping in Spain.

Marex team started operations on Saturday 9th of March 2019 and finished on the 11th of the same month. Spread air, surface supply equipment, welding equipment and other auxiliary were provided by an affiliate diving company, UCS SPAIN.

The initial in-water survey was provided by the owner, which indicated the area to be repaired. Marex used its own welding team and Welding Procedure Specification to execute the work.

After the successful completion of the works the MSSW engineering department composed and sent the technical report and all necessary data and audio-visual material.

It is important to note that all the welding was conducted with the Nautilus 3.2mm electrode, the only electrode which complies with AWS A5.35M, the specification for covered electrodes for underwater wet shielded metal arc welding.
